ISTE-A Standard 4.C: Use collaborative tools to expand students' authentic, real-world learning experiences by engaging virtually with experts, teams and students, locally and globally.

Human resource management focuses on everything having to do with its people and how employees can best contribute to the company effectively and productively. The first step to success in any company, especially that of a school, is communication. Using Mike Daugherty's book on EdTech Leadership as reference, I will be addressing how to appropriately approach learning experiences as an educator and/or technology coach through three main points: confidence, authenticity, and collaboration.

Confidence:

We must remember that, as humans, we are not expected to know everything about everything; however, we are expected to be willing to learn and willing to try. Therefore, rather than being confident in knowing how to do everything, we are asked to be confident in our ability to solve a problem and learn how to do something. Troubleshooting is a skill in which we must be sure about in the educational field. Adaptability, or flexibility, is crucial in a school setting.

Authenticity:

Personality and human interaction is much more desirable in the place of work than strictly skill based work. Creating authenticity and connective relationships is what leads to a cohesive environment. When people work well with one another, then productivity levels are heightened. Technology skills can be taught; authenticity, on the other hand, is not something that can be learned by basic instruction.

Collaboration:

When it comes to technology, there are many layers to uncover. We cannot expect one person to be fluent in solving all possible technology challenges. Therefore, we work together, and each person contributes their skillset to create a well-rounded staff. The end goal of this collaboration is to make others feel at ease about technical issues. Everyone has areas with room for professional growth.

In summary, we are all resources. To best utilize our abilities, we must work with one another. There is no shame in admitting struggles, asking for help, or taking a step back to process the situation. Take pride and ownership in what you do know, and be confident enough in your ability to problem solve to look for alternate solutions when necessary.
