About MCCSC:
I will be doing my Fall 2020 field experience with the Monroe County Community School Corporation. In preparation for this placement, I gathered background information on the district. When reviewing the MCCSC website, I found the following:
Mission Statement: “Empowering students to maximize their educational success to become productive, responsible global citizens.”
Vision: “We envision a world-class learning community that educates tomorrow's leaders.”
Core Values: Engagement, Empowerment, Environment
The Indiana Department of Education website provides information about the MCC School Corporation’s schools, students, educators, and more. This is a B ranked public school corporation led by superintendent Dr. Judith DeMuth. All grades hold a technology 1:1 status. As of 2019, there are 11,182 students, 853 educators, and 23 schools within MCCSC.

Field Experience Expectations:
I do not have many expectations going into my field placement. I try to keep an open mind and be receptive to the various opportunities each experience brings. All teachers/coordinators/coaches have unique perspectives and approaches regarding classroom teaching styles, and I want to avoid placing a mind block on possible learning opportunities. I am, however, excited to observe how technology integration is playing out in schools now compared to when I was a student.
Questions for Technology Coordinator/Coach:
What are the responsibilities that are associated with being a technology coordinator?
What is the greatest struggle that comes with your role?
What is one piece of knowledge that you wish you would have known before entering this field of work?
How do you see technology in schools evolving in the next few years?
Overall Reflection:
After learning more about the Monroe County Community School Corporation, I am pleased with many of my findings. All of the teachers have been rated as effective or highly effective educators, there is 1:1 technology at all levels, and the students show proficiency in all content areas.

Something that is concerning to me regarding the technology integration within Monroe County schools is the slim number of “newer” teachers. Only 12% of educators are fresh (0-2 years of experience) out of schooling. With technology integration being an up-and-coming concept, this means very few of the teachers have been raised with this mode of learning. Although this is not a direct issue, there is a possibility the integration process will be more difficult to teachers with set methods of instructing.
